Youth Pennant Report – Rd6 – 12/4/26 at Eastwood GC (SVGC-v-Rossdale GC)

Glutes were activated by the Rippers early, resulting in a 3.5 to 1.5 WIN against Rossdale GC.  The result sees the SV Rippers return to the top of the ladder and needing a win or a half in the final round for us to ascend to the final and Division 2.

(5) Josiah Stockill remained undefeated for the season with a powerhouse 4&2 victory. Great effort JS.

(4) Aidan Shim was matched up against Rossdale’s best player (GA1.3) and had a stunning 7&6 win (that was not a typo).  What a performance AS.

(3) Sebastian Kyle returned after injury and was unfortunately rusty as a result.  SK was our only loss for the day.

(2) Jeffrey Jiang delivered a commanding performance with a 5&3 win.  Beast Mode JJ.

(1) Luke Keenan was down for his whole match until the final hole which he won to halve his match.  LK refused to give in and relinquish his undefeated status this season, well done LK.

Club Lunch Ratings – 8/10.  Fragrant saffron rice served with infused butter chicken, along with beef vindaloo AND traditional Italian lasagna with bolognese ragu.  The Rippers love to cook on the course and eat lots off the course.

Youth Pennant Report – Rd5 – 30/3/26 at Keysborough GC (SVGC-v-Kingston Heath GC)

The SV Rippers were fired up for their arch rival match against their opponents from down the road. Looking to make amends for their 1st loss last week, the Rippers were on early and never looked like losing (3.5 to 1.5 win).

(5) Chef Jasper Xu’s match was tight all day and came down to the last hole, which the Chef was unable to win.  Great effort to never give up Chef.

(4) Aidan Shim’s match was square at the turn and once his power game was turned on to Beast Mode, it was too much for his opponent on the back 9 – 4&2 win.

(3) Josiah Stockill sent it early and at the turn was 4up.  However on the back 9 his opponent had a run of holes which saw JS’s lead cut back to 1 coming up the last.  Unfortunately JS lost the last hole to halve his match.

(2) Jeffrey Jiang activated the glutes early and at the turn was 5up and another win was just a matter of time – 4&3 win.

(1) Luke Keenan was in Beast Mode again, 5up at the turn – 5&4 win.

Club Lunch Ratings – unbelievable 9/10.  Parma AND Roast Lamb with Bearnaise sauce and roasted vegetables with chips and salad.  Rippers were hungry after their win.

With the Easter break this weekend, the Lads will be fine tuning their wedges/swings with their respective equipment sponsors & swing coaches over the next two weeks.  Look out for a a strong to finish to the season.

Youth Pennant Report – Rd3 – 15/3/26 Kooringal (SVGC-v-Latrobe GC)

The SV Rippers had their sights firmly on top of the ladder after starting the day second on the ladder.  Beast Mode was activated early and by the end of the day they achieved their goal and were on top of the ladder after a dominant 4-1 win over Latrobe GC.

(5) Chef Jasper Xu was out 1st and square after 4holes and down by 2 at the turn.  Unfortunately the Chef was unable to turn the tables, however he did fight hard till the end to go down 2&1.

(4) Josiah Stockill dominated early and was 6up at the turn, eventually winning 7&6 with his grandfather from the UK watching again before he heads home this week.

(3) Jeffrey Jiang continued his unbeaten season with a grinding 6&5 win despite not having his A game.

(2) Luke Keenan was our captain for the day in Seb’s absence from injury. Inspired by the captaincy, LK kept his winning streak alive with a 4&3 win.

(1) Lan Vu made his debut for the Rippers and stepped into the furnace playing No.1.  What a start for Lan (14yrs/GA+1) who was unavailable for the 1st 2rounds.  Lan was locked in early and I mean early in his warm up where he was all business while the other lads were eating chocolate for breakfast. No one was going to beat LV today, 7&5 win ladies and gentleman.

Finally the Lads have requested that their Club Lunch Ratings be noted in each week’s Report (needless to say they love their food and eat lots of it). Medway Rd1 6/10 parma, Box Hill Rd2 7/10 hot food buffet and Kooringal Rd3 8/10 pan fried chicken on mashed potatoes with green beans. The SV Rippers have a top of ladder clash with second place Northern GC at Greenacres GC this Sunday (lunch better be good Greenacres GC, The SV Rippers love 2 cook & eat).

*Editors Note: We look forward to the SV Rippers joining Men’s team in Div 2 very soon – the lunch on our host day a couple of weeks ago was widely priased by all who visited us, and our team members – a highlight being the review from our very own Anthony Cecchi, who was quite enamoured by the order of the buffet, and rated it a strong 13.4/10.  Not to mention the Irish lad from Woodlands, who was so hungry he asked whether he could have two tickets for the all you can eat buffet….. We have no doubt the will no doubt impress the Lads!

Youth Pennant Report – Rd2 – 1/3/26 Box Hill GC (SVGC-v-Medway)

The buzz in our Division was that Medway was a highly fancied team, stacked with talent.  On Sunday we found out that this was indeed correct, with all golfers in their team having a GA of 4 or under.  However the SCGC Rippers just never gave up under any circumstances and in another tightly fought match The Rippers reigned supreme with a 3 to 2 win.

(5) Charlie McCormick earned his debut for the Rippers as a result of a much improved game over the summer.  While his debut didn’t go to plan we are excited to watch his development.  As a result of illness to others, Charlie stepped up with short notice and his presence provided much confidence to the team.  Unfortunately for Charlie, Medway chose to play one of their better players at No5 which resulted in an early point for Medway.

(4) Chef Jasper moved up to play No.4 for the 1st time and turned up the heat on the stove early.  He loves to cook and at the turn was 5up. Desert please, 6&5 win for the Chef.

(3) Jeffrey Jiang’s match was ultimately the vital match which provided a W for The Rippers. Square for most of the match this was a thrilling match which came down to the very last hole which was a Par5.  Glutes were activated and JJ monstered a drive off the tee.  On the green JJ rolled in a clutch 20ft birdie putt to win his match for The Rippers.  Great win JJ.

(2) Luke Keenan was the other vital match for the day and while LK was in control for most of this match, his opponent did come back at the backend of the match.  At the turn LK was 3up, with his last 3 holes on the 7th, 8th & 9th all halved with BIRDIES.  Coming into the 17th hole LK held a slender 1up lead, which he ended up winning after coolly rolling in a clutch 3ft putt to win the hole and the match 2&1.

(1) Seb Kyle (Rippers Skipper) at the turn was 2up, however this match was always going down to the wire with Seb playing with an injured knee sustained from playing cricket on Saturday (for those unaware, while Seb is a very very good golfer, he is an even better cricketer, playing representative cricket back in NZ!). Seb bravely fought to the end on 1 leg and eventually was worn down on the very last hole where he lost his match 2down.  Great effort Skip.

Well done Rippers, great start to the season with another 3 to 2 win.

Youth Pennant Report – Rd1 – 22/2/26 Medway GC (SVGC -v-Patterson River)

The club is well placed with a bright future and this is reflected in this year’s Youth Pennant Team squad aka The Rippers which consisted of no less than 5 new members in this years squad.  With the members of last year’s squad all improving significantly and the quality of the new members there was much anticipation for the start of the season in Division 3.

(5) Chef Jasper Xu led the team out and was off to an uncharacteristic start with a miss drive.  With the Chef taking a while to warm up in the kitchen, his match was fairly even for most of the match until he started cooking on his last 4 holes, which consisted of 3 pars and a birdie.  Winner winner chicken dinner 6&5.  Well done Master Chef.

(4) Josiah Stockill made his debut for The Rippers today and Josiah was determined.  Mum said no (because of school homework) to attending the last Thursday training session before the start of the season, but Josiah promised Mum that he would do his homework between holes at training and yes Mum he was doing his homework between holes if you are reading this. This determination was required as Josiah was 4down after 4 holes, not looking good, until he won 6 of his last 7 holes to half the match.  Well done Josiah.

(3) Jeffrey Jiang was back from American with a significantly better swing which was needed in this crucial match which was tight all day.  Jeffrey managed to halve his match which was the important halve we needed to win our match against Patterson River.  Well done Jeffrey.

(2) Luke Keenan also made his debut for the The Rippers and what a debut it was. Luke secured our 2nd win of the day with a 5&3 comfortable W.  Well done Luke.

(1) Seb Kyle will again lead The Rippers this season with a No Fear policy required for our young team, thank you Skipper.  Seb’s game was tight game all day with Seb eventually going down the last hole needing a win to halve the match which our Skipper was unfortunately unable to do.  Great match Skipper.

Well done Rippers, great start to the season with a 3 to 2 win.  Our next game will be against a strong Medway team at Box Hill GC.
