Grange-Spring Valley Event 2019

Published on 19th March 2019 in Guests News, Public Latest News
All 20 members from each club arrived at the Grange dining room at 7 pm Friday for the meet and greet, prior to the battles starting on the golf course tomorrow. First-time players were presented with ties, Harry Kinread received his from The Grange. Then the draw was announced for the 4BBB competition to be played Saturday. All players enjoyed the hospitality, consuming tasty finger food and the odd refreshment!

Saturday morning started with a hearty breakfast at our lodgings then off to the Grange to for the competitions. It was a beautiful sunny day with little wind which made me feel even more confident about the outcome.

Apparently, one of the pairs had not hydrated enough before the start of play and were last seen chasing the drinks cart down a fairway on the other course we were not playing! Thankfully they were able to re-hydrate and go on to win there match,(well done Alpal and Nick!!). Spring Valley led after the 1st day 51/2 – 41/2.

During the BBQ Saturday night, the pairs for the singles comp on Sunday were announced. The competition would take place on the East course which was redesigned by Greg Norman, it is a track that requires good shots and course management.

The pairs started coming in and it was all very tight, our members were putting up a good fight, but as expected at their home track Grange won 17 1/2  – 12 1/2. Looking very splendid in his Pink shorts and Black polo, Alpal remained undefeated and was heard to say “I didn’t come all this way to lose”

Everyone then cleaned themselves up for the presentations and dinner. Looking splendid in jacket and ties we all enjoyed the wonderful food, refreshments and camaraderie.
Award winners for Spring Valley:
Best 4BBB score: Cec Bailey and Steve Ellis
Best Individual total: Harry Kinread

Discussions were held regarding introducing Foursomes next year which would make it a 3-day event.

A special thank you to all the Spring Valley members who attended and made it a very enjoyable trip.
