A strong field of 32 pairs teed it up for the 2026 Women’s Foursomes Championship, with the opening round on March 19 played in near-perfect conditions—reflected in some impressive scoring.
Hayley Peters and Jody Doran set the early pace, opening their round with five consecutive pars to establish control. As the round progressed, pressure mounted from Feirn Thomson and Nammie Intarak, who found momentum on the back nine, while Phoebe Burfield and Fairlie Halligan stayed within striking distance with a well-combined performance. The newly formed duo of Linda Wilson and Angela Stein also featured prominently to round out the leading group.
Despite the challenge, Peters and Doran remained composed, signing for the day’s best score of 86 to take a five-shot lead into the final round.
Round two on March 26 presented a completely different test. Strong winds and the looming threat of a storm created difficult conditions for the early 7:30am tee times. Peters and Doran faced early challenges, with wayward tee shots forcing them into recovery mode, while Thomson and Intarak steadily applied pressure.
Further back, Helen Noble and Katie Coble produced the round of the day, closely followed by Sue Pearson and Shirley Munro, though both pairs were ultimately unable to bridge the gap.
After a shaky front nine, Peters and Doran regathered their composure. A steady finish, capped with a birdie and a closing par, ensured they maintained their advantage and secured a convincing five-shot victory.
Congratulations to Hayley Peters and Jody Doran on an outstanding performance.
Nett Division
Marie and Christine entered the second round of the Nett competition without high expectations after posting a modest opening score of 80.5. With the pressure off, they embraced a relaxed approach—focusing on enjoying the day and committing fully to each shot.
That mindset proved decisive.
Christine hit the green on the 3rd and Marie followed suit on the 10th, with both opportunities converted into confidence-building pars. From there, they built momentum, playing steadily to their handicap before finishing strongly—highlighted by a superb putt from Marie on the 18th.
Their excellent second-round score of 71.5 brought their total to 152, a remarkable turnaround.
Combining strong driving with consistent putting, Marie and Christine delivered a performance that not only surprised themselves but secured them the title.
Congratulations to Marie and Christine on a fantastic win.
