Golf Cart Usage Policy

Published on 16th January 2026 in Course News, GSC/Pro, Guests News, Latest News, Public Latest News

The beginning of the new year serves as a good time to remind all members of the policies surrounding golf cart usage here at Spring Valley. These guidelines are in place to ensure the safety of our members and guests while preserving the condition and playability of key areas of the golf course.

Please take a moment to familiarise yourself with the following information.

The following guidelines are to clearly articulate and govern the acceptable use of motorised golf vehicles:

  • Only persons over 18 years of age and with a full license may operate a golf cart, unless specific permission has been granted by the GM or the Director of Golf.
  • Members and players shall be responsible and liable to the Club for the cost of all repairs and damages to golf carts caused by themselves, or by persons for whom they are responsible.
  • Members and players shall be responsible for any personal injury or property damage caused by the negligent operation of a golf cart by themselves and persons for whom they are responsible.
  • No more than two players and two golf bags may occupy or be carried in or on a single golf cart at any one time.
  • Golf carts must be operated on cart paths, where provided, and under no circumstances shall carts be driven nearer than 10 metres of any green or 10 metres of any tee except on constructed cart paths located within those prescribed distances.
  • Golf carts are not permitted to be driven in or through any sand traps, bunkers or other hazards and shall be kept at least 5 metres from the lip or edge of any sand traps, bunkers or hazards.
  • All directional signs, stakes, ropes and other markers used to guide and direct golf cart traffic must be observed. Similarly, signs prohibiting or restricting the use of golf carts in particular areas are to be obeyed without exception.
  • Hirers are to be the only drivers and must control the vehicle at all times in a responsible manner.
  • Soft areas of fairways, depressions and drainage retention areas must be avoided, especially after heavy rains. Use of a golf cart may at times be denied if course conditions and or other circumstances warrant such action
  • Hirers must not be affected by drugs or alcohol whilst in control of the cart.
