Match Committee Update
Published on 7th April 2026 in Guests News, Latest News, Public Latest NewsA short message to update members on the activities of the Match Committee.
Course Marshall
The position of Course Marshall has been advertised and upwards of 60 applications have been received. Our Director of Golf has been conducting interviews with the criteria of good communication skills and a strong history in playing golf especially in a private golf club environment, high on the list.
Initially a single Marshall is likely to be appointed but this may change depending on the person selected and their circumstances. It is hoped that the Marshall will commence around the middle of April prior to the commencement of the Club Championships. Following an initial training program it is expected the Marshall will spend most of their time on course carrying an iPad that will enable active linkage to the MiScore software.
The selection of the Course Marshall will be published as soon as possible following the recruitment process.
As previously identified it is everyone’s responsibility to try their best to ensure a speedy game for all. This is summed up through being ready to play and keeping up with the group ahead. A more detailed list of things that we can do will be published soon coinciding with an update of the Pace of Play Policy found in the Handbook on the website.
Pace of Play/ Available daylight
As the year progresses members would have noticed a drop in some tee times due to the reduced availability of daylight. As we now approach the end of daylight savings the amount of daylight for play will continue to decline. This may mean that there will be increased pressure on the timesheets and a consequent increase on the waitlist.
At this time of the year we urge members to be more aware of decreasing daylight and to play without delay. In this way all members should complete their rounds.
Guests
As in recent years the Match Committee will track pressure on timesheets and if it is necessary to restrict guests being permitted to play on key competition days such as Wednesday and Sunday. Currently we are reviewing guests on Saturdays.
As a reminder only 7 day members are permitted to play on a Saturday including in the competition or social timeslots.
Philip Courtney Trophy
The first gold letter board event for men has been played and concluded with the combination of Peter Doran and Geoff Arthur just outlasting Cec Bailey and Chris Hansen on the 18th.
Congratulations to Peter and Geoff and a thank you to all four players for the spirit and manner in which the game was played.
