Member Update - February 2024

Dear Member, 

What an eventful week we've just had! Last Tuesday, what began as a tranquil day at Spring Valley swiftly transformed into a spectacle of extraordinary weather. The aftermath, as captured in the photos below, hardly does no justice to the extent of debris strewn about after the passing front. Yet, it's with immense pride that we acknowledge the tireless efforts of our Course staff, who over and above on Wednesday and Thursday to restore playability to our course. Their dedication was nothing short of phenomenal, and on behalf of all members, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to them.

Traces of the damage may linger for some time, and our LOCAL RULE remains in effect, on behalf of all members, we thank the boys for their efforts.

Last week, we also released our member survey. If you haven't already, we urge you to take a moment to share your insights. Your feedback is invaluable as we chart our course forward. Plus, by participating, you stand a chance to win a $50 food and beverage voucher as a token of our appreciation for your time and input.

In recent weeks, we've welcomed new additions to our staff family. Join us in extending a warm welcome to Max Benner, our new PGA teaching Professional, and Daniel Groom, our Head Chef. If you cross paths with them, be sure to give them a friendly hello.

As always, there's a buzz of activity around the club. From our upcoming Nine & Dine event this Friday, with a few spots still available, to the commencement of our Men's pennant season this Sunday. All of our teams value your support, and there area number of ways you can do that available.

For those interested, as you will read below, our Men's pennant team will be presented on Saturday after golf, and there is an opportunity to join them for a game on Saturday afternoon.  It is worth noting also, that we will be doing the same with our other pennant teams on the eve of their seasons commencing.

Excitement is also brewing as we gear up to launch the renowned Spring Valley Footy Tipping competition for the 2025 season, hosted once again by Crocodile Mick. The 2024 Spring Valley Golf Club Member Satisfaction survey, facilitated by our dedicated Membership & Promotion Committee, aims to gauge your satisfaction levels and gather valuable insights into your experience at Spring Valley.

Celebrating Our Legends

A couple of weeks ago, we released an article highlighting the pivotal role that our long-term members play in shaping the rich history and vibrant community of our beloved club. Today, we continue the special initiative to honour and celebrate these dedicated individuals who have been the backbone of Spring Valley for over 40 years.

This initiative is a heartfelt expression of gratitude for their contributions, ensuring their legacy lives on in the fabric of our club's history.

Hospitality Update

We are thrilled to announce that our new head chef, Daniel Groom, along with our hospitality team, is introducing an exciting new club menu, which starts Friday 23rd February. We have taken into account the feedback we've received regarding menu variety and pricing, and while we understand that it's impossible to please everyone, we've worked hard to create a well-balanced menu that we hope you'll enjoy.

Additionally, we're delighted to share that our take-home meal service, which has seamlessly continued under Chef Daniel's leadership with the assistance of Kay and Debbie in the kitchen, is thriving. If you haven't already taken advantage of this wonderful member service, we highly recommend giving it a try. We're now catering for over 100 meals a week, thanks to your support.

Take Home Meals - 

After a short break for the Christmas period, Take Home Meals are back!

There is now a direct link to our Take Home Meals Page in the  Mobile App. Making your weekly purchases quick and easy!

Thank you to all who have participated and provided valuable feedback. Your suggestions have been incredibly helpful, and we have incorporated many of them into our upcoming menus.

As a reminder, our pre-order system is simple and convenient. Members can submit their meal selections via an online form, and then collect their meals on their preferred date. And the best part? We'll have a brand new menu available each week, so you'll never get bored with our delicious offerings.

So what are you waiting for? Let us take care of dinner this week and indulge in our chef-prepared meals. Place your order now and get ready for a culinary adventure!

One of Max's greatest strengths lies in his ability to foster a fun, relaxed energy on the course, ensuring that players of all ages and skill levels can enjoy and excel in the game they love.

Philip Courtney Final

Well done to the finalists of the 2024 Philip Courtney Trophy, David Gooden & Geoff Roberts who will be takin on against Phillip Bainbridge & Roger Hastings. 

It has been a long journey to the final, with two qualifying rounds and three rounds of handicap match play, it is a major effort to make the final of this prestigious gold letter event. 

We hope the match is a tight battle and look forward to the match report next Saturday!


Weekly Winners

Congratulations to all of our recent winners - there have been some great scores of late - particularly on Saturday morning, where Plus 6 from Lucas Murtagh won A grade and Plus 5 from Noel Mannix took out B grade!!  Great golf.  

Also, special Congratulations to Lynne Bui who won the Sunday Women's Medal with 41 points.

Dress Code Reminder

Members are reminded that at Spring Valley we have a dress code that must be adhered to when attending the club, for golf, practice or a clubhouse visit.

We have instructed our GSC and Hospitality teams to remind members and guests of the dress code, and ensure compliance at all times.  If you have a concern about a compliance issue, please highlight their this with the Golf Service Centre staff.

2024 Mixed Cup

We are thrilled to announce the much-anticipated 2024 Mixed Cup. Thank you to those who provided valuable feedback to shape the event; this year promises to be bigger, better, and more exciting than ever before!

Incorporating valuable feedback from the 2023 participants, we have introduced exciting enhancements for the upcoming annual Mixed Cup Golf event. Changes include adopting an aggregate stableford scoring system for each round and the overall ladder position, scheduling rounds to avoid long-weekend Sundays, fostering camaraderie by encouraging players to team up with participants from their own or different teams, and urging everyone to join the PM shotgun start during the final round for an opportunity to be part of the event presentations and enjoy refreshments.

Date: Sunday, 3 March | 2 June | 18 August | 27 October | 8 December
Team Composition: 6-8 golfers per team
Format: 5 Stableford Rounds
Conditions: Each team must include at least 3 women to be eligible. 
Cost: $25.00 per person
Flexibility: Participants can nominate an AM or PM tee slot (with exception of last round where PM is strongly encouraged).
