As we step into November, we are pleased to reflect on an eventful October at Spring Valley Golf Club. Our Annual General Meeting took place on Wednesday, 30th October, and we're happy to report that all motions were passed, and as there were an equal number of nominations for positions, no election was necessary.  The make up of the Board will be as follows:

We are thrilled to introduce Jake Fullerton, our newest PGA Professional, who will be offering an exciting range of pathway programs, clinics, and lessons for our members!

Jake's passion for golf began at Gardiners Run, where he spent five years both playing and working as a teenager. He honed his skills at Rowville Sports Academy, training daily under the guidance of PGA professionals at Waverly Golf Club. With experience playing nine seasons of Pennant and winning a flag for Huntingdale in 2017, Jake brings a wealth of expertise and enthusiasm to Spring Valley.

Jake has made the move across from Eastern Golf Club, where he has held multiple roles including Assistant Professional, Golf Operations Manager, and Teaching Professional, and achieved his first professional win at the 2019 Flinders Trainee Pro-Am.

Jake believes in keeping things simple and working with your individual strengths. He values the importance of solid fundamentals but understands that every golfer moves differently. His approach is inclusive of all skill levels, making the game enjoyable and accessible to everyone. Golf, according to Jake, is a lifelong journey, and there's always something new to learn.

24 of our Spring Valley ladies recently embarked on an exciting interstate golf trip to the renowned Grange Golf Club in South Australia. Over two days, they had the opportunity to test their skills on both the East and West courses, famous for their unique designs and challenging layouts.

The trip wasn't just about golf - it was also a chance for our members to bond and enjoy some quality time together. From plenty of laughs on the fairways to relaxing over food and drinks after a day on the course, the camaraderie was just as memorable as the golf.

We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to over 70 members who attended our recent Member Consultative Forums. Your participation and insights are invaluable as we work together to secure the long-term prosperity and future of Spring Valley Golf Club.

There has been several snake sightings this week, so it serves as a timely reminder to be aware as you are walking around the course.

Snakes are not aggressive unless they are provoked or stepped on.  There have been three species of snakes reported on the course, being Eastern Brown, Red Belly Black and Copper Heads. Be mindful that these snakes are all venomous.  

We have snake bite kits situated in the GSC, the Bar, the Course Marshal cart and 6 of our Course Staff vehicles, so if there is a snake bite event, our team won't be too far away, however, step one in an emergency is to call for an Ambulance on 000.

If you observe any of these symptoms while on the golf course, seek immediate medical attention.

We're excited to introduce a new series of 1-hour golf clinics, designed for players of all abilities. Whether you're just starting out or looking to refine specific skills, these clinics offer focused coaching to help you improve your game.

Clinic Schedule

• Men's Program: Thursdays at 10:30 AM
• Women's Program: Tuesdays at 10:00 AM
• Mixed Twilight Program: Thursdays at 6:00 PM

Led by our PGA Professional Jake Fullerton, each session will focus on key areas of the game, such as putting, chipping, pitching, and the full swing, ensuring tailored feedback for all participants.

The Trafalgar Club is excited to host the 4th Vern Morcom Tribute Plate on Monday, 18th November 2024. This prestigious event brings together teams from Morcom-designed courses to celebrate and compete in honour of one of Australia's most influential golf course architects.

Teams of four (4) players from selected clubs-Men, Women, or Mixed- are invited to participate in a fantastic day of competition, camaraderie, and celebration. 

Event Details:
Date: Monday, 18th November 2024
Venue: The Trafalgar Club
Cost: $50 per person (includes BBQ lunch and salads)
Format: Gentsomes (The team picks the preferred drive (minimum 3 drives per player). Team members each place their balls within 1 club-length and all play individual Stableford from that point. The 2 best scores are entered on the scorecard.)
Teams: 4 players per team (multiple teams per club are welcome)
Competition: One nominated team from each club will compete for the prestigious H.V. Morcom Plate. All other teams will compete for the Green Keepers Cup
