Dear Member,
As we step into October, it's wonderful to welcome 27 new members who have joined our club over the past few months. We hope you're settling in and are enjoying your new golfing home. We'd also like to extend a warm welcome back to a number of members who have renewed their memberships after a short break - great to have you back on the course!
October is shaping up to be a vibrant month at the club. With warmer weather and longer daylight hours, the clubhouse and course are buzzing with activity, and corporate events are on the rise. Just a reminder: Daylight Savings begins at 2:00am on Sunday, 6th October, so don't forget to set your clocks forward by one hour.
Our Foursomes Championships are on this month, and our Club Championships, kick off next month and will no doubt be a highlight for many. We encourage all eligible members to participate in these prestigious events.
On Wednesday, 9th October, Spring Valley will be teaming up with Keysborough Golf Club for a half swap day. This is a fantastic opportunity to experience a different course while enjoying a relaxed round with members from both clubs. These swap days are always popular, offering a fresh perspective on your game and a great way to connect with fellow golfers.
Then, just a few days later on Sunday, 13th October, we have Presidents' and Captains' Day. This mixed 4BBB event is always a standout, with friendly competition, laughter, and plenty of banter among members. Timesheets are now open, so be sure to secure your spot for what promises to be a fun and memorable day!
Good luck to our Men's Senior Pennant teams as they embark on their 2025 campaign. Competing in the Ron Budge and John Philp Matchplay Events, they'll be in action here at SVGC on 18th October. We look forward to cheering them on.
Looking ahead, Women's Oaks Day is right around the corner.. Expect the clubhouse to be filled with color, excitement, and plenty of lively conversation as members enjoy the day's festivities. With the races on the screen, a few cheeky bets, and great company, it's sure to be an event to remember.
Save the date for our Nine and Dine with the Club Professionals event on Monday, 4th November. It's like our Nine and Dine event but supercharged-with clinics, hole-in-one competitions, roaming on-course tuition from PGA professionals, horse sweeps, a 9-hole competition, and dinner. Timesheets are now open.
Finally, a quick reminder that entries are now open for the Spring Valley Corporate Challenge on Friday, 29th November 2024. This event is ideal for members looking to engage in some friendly competition with their colleagues, clients, or associates. The day will feature great golf, networking opportunities, and plenty of on-course action. Don't miss your chance to be part of this prestigious event-sign up today!
There have also been several updates from our Club President and Board in recent weeks. For further details on the Consultative Forums, debenture opportunities, the Commercial Advisory Group, or the upcoming AGM (30th October), please refer to previous newsletters or website stories and feel free to reach out if you have any questions. The most recent communication from the President is available HERE, which has links to the relevant articles mentioned.
As the days get longer, Members are reminded of the Southern Driving Range operating hours. It is vital that the gate and ball machine is locked by the staff as the depart for the day, which is 6pm - so if you intend on some evening practice, we encourage you to use the Northern range, chipping green or golf course. Three times recently we have had undesirables on course afterhours, so we need to make it as difficult as we can for them to access the property. CLICK HERE for the range hours, and maintenance schedule.
If you've missed any club news this month, we've curated some highlights and provided links below to keep you up to speed. Make sure you're logged in to access the full content.
As always, we value your feedback and ideas. Please don't hesitate to get in touch if you have any suggestions or concerns.
Thank you for your ongoing support!
