Member Update - January 2024

Dear Member,

I trust this message finds you well and rested after the festive season. I hope each of you had a wonderful Christmas and holiday season. For those who took a well-deserved break, welcome back to the Club - we've missed you, and we're excited about the year ahead.

As we bid farewell to the silly season, we eagerly anticipate a vibrant and eventful year filled with exciting activities for our members. The Club is gearing up to bring you a full calendar of golf and social events in 2024. Remember, all the details for these events are regularly updated on our website, so be sure to check in frequently to stay informed about dates, times, and additional information.

We're gearing up for an exciting weekend on course, as we approach Round 2 of the much-anticipated Philip Courtney Trophy.  The Philip Courtney Trophy holds a special place in Spring Valley's Men's Major Events, a yearly tradition that adds a layer of competitiveness and camaraderie to our golfing calendar. A complimentary sausage sizzle will also be available as part of our Member Appreciation Day celebrations, so don't forget to swing past, grab a sausage and say hello to our hospitality team between 11:00am - 1:00pm, while stocks last.

It wouldn't be the start of the year without some weather surprises, and this month has been no exception. From torrential down pours to soaring temperatures, Mother Nature has certainly kept our course staff on their toes. In light of these unpredictable conditions, we want to emphasise the importance of staying informed. Please keep a vigilant eye on your push notifications through the Club App and Miscore App. These channels will ensure you receive timely updates on any changes to scheduled events or urgent notifications related to the course. Your safety and enjoyment while you are here are our top priorities, and these tools will help us keep you well-informed and prepared for whatever weather comes our way.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who attended our Pennant Launch and Guest Day last week. Your support is a driving force behind the success of our teams and they appreciate your participation.  With that in mind, our Pennant Teams are gearing up for another exciting season. Fresh off securing two flags in the past two years, our teams are fired up and ready to deliver impressive performances. If you're interested in being part of the Pennant action or supporting our teams, please reach out - your involvement is truly valued. You can also stay updated with all the results and match reports on the Club website.

Thank you also goes out to all the members who took the time to complete our December Event Survey. In our commitment to fostering member engagement, we are excited to announce that, in collaboration with our Membership Engagement Committee, we will be offering more opportunities for members to provide feedback throughout the year. Look out for emails detailing how you can share your thoughts and ideas, helping us tailor our events to meet your preferences and expectations.

Speaking of surveys, our Annual Member Survey is just around the corner and will be distributed to all members in February. Links to the survey will be emailed, provided on the club website and direct links via the mobile app. We kindly ask all members to spare a few minutes to share your thoughts. Your feedback is instrumental in shaping our planning across all departments, ensuring that we continue to meet the needs and expectations of our diverse and valued membership.

As the warmer weather approaches, any members considering a category upgrade for the rest of the financial year, our Administration team is ready to assist you. We encourage you to make the most of your membership and enjoy the beautiful course to its fullest. Rates will be pro rata through until June 30th 2024.

Finally, if you have missed any of the website articles or communications this month, don't worry, we've got you covered. Below, you'll find highlights and website links to keep you up to date with all the latest news from the Club,

As always, your feedback and ideas are crucial to us. If you have any questions, suggestions, or concerns, please let me know.

Honouring Our Loyalty Members

A club is only as good as its members. Long-term members are the building blocks of all that has transpired since our early days.  They have contributed in many different ways and have ensured our continuity for over 70 years.  By renewing each year, they ensure that the club remains viable and the program of continuous improvement is implemented thus providing a wonderful experience for all members both on and off the course.  It is no accident that our course rates so highly amongst Australia's best and our club house and members are welcoming to all.

Spring Valley is most fortunate to have a growing core of members that have contributed for 40+ years.  In the year after our 70-year celebrations the Board has decided to further recognise these members through naming regular competition days in their honour.

Commencing in January/February daily competitions on Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday will carry the name of one of our Loyalty members.  The specific day for each member will be chosen in line with their current membership category.  To further enhance each day the member will be offered priority tee times for themselves and three other members (two for Thursday). Given some loyalty members no longer play golf the club will still recognise them in naming a competition day in their honour. Each competition day will be preceded with a short Biography of the member and their achievements/participation within the club to ensure newer members appreciate their contribution.

The naming of the competition days will continue until all loyalty members have been honoured.  Days that will be excluded are Major and Special events.

With your support the Board hopes that this recognition of our long serving members will be a simple way to say thank you to all those members that have made Spring Valley Golf Club the wonderful place it is; a place to find comradeship and common enjoyment in all that has been achieved and what will be achieved in the future.

Member on Tour - Jasper Xu

The accolades continue to pour in for our young members at Spring Valley, with Jasper Xu securing a notable victory in the Harvey Norman Week of Golf in NSW!

The event spanned three rounds across three distinct NSW courses, but the unfamiliar terrain didn’t hinder Jasper as he claimed victory in the under-9 category.

Not only did Jasper excel on the golf course, but he also relished the experience of traveling to Sydney, forging new friendships, and taking in iconic sights like the Sydney Harbour Bridge and Opera House.

Fantastic work, Jasper! Keep up the outstanding form!

We love hearing about our members and their achievements - so please feel free to share your stories and photos with us.

Member on Tour - Sid Nadimpalli

The Australia Master Of The Amateur's (AMOTA) stands as Australia's premier amateur event, bringing together the finest amateur players from across the globe.

Sid Nadimpalli, one of the shining stars from Spring Valley, secured entry into this prestigious event based on his world golf amateur ranking. Positioned around the midfield among competitors, Sid approached the week with confidence, especially given his familiarity with the Southern Golf Club.

Over the course of four days, Sid delivered a stellar performance, notching impressive rounds of 69, 67, 75, and 66, accumulating to an outstanding 11-under total. Despite narrowly missing the top spot by a single stroke, Sid showcased remarkable resilience, overcoming some unlucky breaks with incredible putting skills. The live coverage of AMOTA highlighted Sid's distinctive style and flair, adding to the pride of Spring Valley.

As Sid moves forward, his journey continues with the Australian Amateur Championship this week, hosted at the distinguished Yarra Yarra and Keysborough Golf Clubs. Congratulations, Sid - a major title surely awaits on the horizon!
