Member Update - May

Dear Member,

As John Snow would famously proclaim, "Winter is coming"! While we have relished in a relatively cool Autumn, it's essential to keep in mind that the colder months will soon be upon us. Our dedicated team has been diligently planning to ensure your winter experience at the club is nothing short of exceptional. Wood is stocked for the fireplace, new hearty meals are rotating through the specials menu and new seasonal clothing is available the Golf Service Centre.

A gentle reminder for members, to please take note of any expiring House Account credits and Green Fee vouchers that you may have. We encourage you to utilise these before their expiration date (June 30th) to make the most of your membership benefits.

Our Take Home Meals continue to go from strength to strength and we love receiving your feedback and menu suggestions. When members are still talking about the Satay Chicken from 3 weeks ago, you know you're on a winner! Thank you to everyone who continues to support this great member service. For those yet to jump on board, Members can submit their meal selections via an online form or via the app and then collect their meals on their preferred date. And the best part? We’ll have a brand new menu available each week, so you’ll never get bored with our delicious offerings.

In today's digital age, convenience and accessibility are paramount. That's why we are thrilled to announce the launch of our brand-new mobile app! The App is currently live in the App Store (IOS) and we hope to receive an approval notification in the coming days from Google Play for our Android users. A huge shout out to our Assistant Manager Kim Little, who has been working with the Membership Engagement Committee over the past few months to create this amazing new membership tool. Keep an eye out for further announcements as we roll out further enhancements to your membership experience.

Members are advised that Air2G2 will be on course on Monday May 29th and Tuesday May 30th. Air2G2 injects compressed air directly into the playing surface, causing a fracturing effect of the compacted rootzone, with no surface disruption. Another exciting step in our course maintenance program.  We have set up our timesheets so there should be minimal impact on member golf on those days, but a friendly reminder that course staff and contractors have right of way, should you happen to come across them on the day.

Many of our members would have received their subscriptions notices this week for the 2023/24 financial year. If you are still considering changing your category, a form is available online to help our administration team streamline the process - CLICK HERE. Alternatively, if you would like to discuss your membership options, please feel to contact our administration team, who will be happy to assist you.

Finally, congratulations to all our weekly competition winners, who despite the recent weather, have secured some amazing scores this week.

Kind Regards

Chris Poulton
General Manager

Entry to Southern Carpark

After a couple of near misses in our Southern Carpark, we have added some signage to ensure the safety of all members and guest while entering and exiting the carpark.

Please note that the entrance to the Southern Carpark is from the Northern end (closest to the clubhouse) and the exit is from the Southern End (closest to the 19th green), and members are asked to ensure they follow these directions, regardless of how empty the carpark is.

We have added some no right turn signage on the approach to the Southern as a reminder.

It is also a timely reminder to please adhere to the 30kmph speed limit along the driveway prior to the clubhouse area, as you arrive from the Heatherton Rd entrance, and the 10kmph speed limit in our carparks and around the clubhouse.

Lessons with Lenny

We are delighted to have a special guest with us every Friday! Meet Lenny - one of our Junior Member who is currently completing work experience at the Club.

Lenny has been working hard with Craig on course over the past 3 weeks and we couldn't be more proud of his dedication and commitment.

Lenny also took out the Wednesday A Grade Competition this week. Some have suggested that his first hand look at the pin placements surely helped him secure his 41 points win! Congratulation Lenny!

If you see Lenny on the course or in the Golf Service Centre, be sure to say hello and show him some support. We know he's eager to learn and be a part of our community, so let's make him feel welcome.

Staff News: Fin Is On Tour

Finlay Bellingham, our teaching professional, has recently completed a successful 12-day stretch of professional competitions throughout New South Wales (NSW). He showcased his skills and achieved impressive results, securing two top 10 finishes and two top 25 finishes in the four events he played. This outstanding performance demonstrated his talent and dedication.

Following his stint in NSW, Finlay participated in the Papua New Guinea (PNG) Open, finishing 52nd with a score of +22 after 4 rounds. The tournament, held at the Royal Port Moresby Golf Club, marks the beginning of the Australasian Tour.  CLICK HERE for full results.

Fin will be taking a leave of absence from his role at Spring Valley, and will be travelling up North to commence a two and half month circuit through Queensland and upper New South Wales.

During this time, he will participate in a total of 32 one to three day professional competitions on the Pro-Am circuit.  It all starts with the Lexus Townsville Classic on May 26th, and wraps up at the Kooralbyn Valley Pro-Am on the August 6th. A grueling schedule to say the least!

Finlay is hoping to play well enough to earn more eligibility and status to play on the Australasian Tour during their season.  We will be in direct contact with him throughout his journey and keep you updated on his progress within each tournament.  Keep an eye on our social media pages, as well as the club website for regular updates. The club will be supporting Fin on his journey, and if there are any members who would like to do the same, please let us know – he will be most grateful.

Update From Travis

Another enjoyable month has flown past and its great to hear all the good results come in especially from those who attended the on-course clinics. Huge score improvements from smarter decisions without having to make big swing changes.

I hosted some clinics for Kieser this month helping their clients who are returning from injury get back to the course without risk of re-injury. These are so satisfying knowing golfers who potentially could give the game away can now continue playing for years to come. If you think golf is potentially causing you injuries or you’re worried about returning from an injury I’d love to help you navigate this journey. See product of the month below!

The next series of specialty clinics focus on the most fun/frustrating elements of the game! Driving the ball long and wedging it close to the pin. If you can hit fairways and get you approach shots on point then even rounds where other elements are not firing, your scores will be ok and enjoyment levels high.

Click the link below to find full details on next month's specialty clinics, coaching specials, product of the month and video tip.
