Two weeks ago we cored the greens with 6mm hollow tines as well as topdressing them. Following this a controlled release fertilizer was applied to the greens to assist their recovery as well as an application of penetrant wetting agent to ensure water penetration and to keep the surface dry during and following rain. The heights of the greens have been lifted from 2.5mm to 3mm while the greens recover from the renovation and as they can handle it we will gradually lower the heights back to 2.5mm. This week we applied calcium magnesium seaweed and fish emulsion to the greens to overcome deficiencies as well as encourage root growth and microbial activity.

Fairways

A follow up application of fertilizer will be applied this week to ensure the fairways are as healthy as possible going into dormancy. Over the course of winter we will spot spray kikuyu in the fairways with Monument & Tribute with a follow up most likely to be required.

Bunkers

All the bunkers were sprayed for weeds at the start of the month however with regular rainfall of late more weeds have germinated since. This will be ongoing through winter.

Levelling of high traffic floors will be ongoing.

Staff

We have had two resignations in the past month with Maire Fay our gardener taking a full time gardening role at Menarock aged care and Liam George moving on to a contracting company.

Rough

The areas that were sprayed for Parramatta grass last winter have been sprayed with a light rate of Roundup two weeks ago to eliminate the Poa annua that has germinated, next week we will seed these areas with Sheep & Hard fescue.

Spraying of kikuyu commenced early this month with a follow up application sill required.

Spot spraying of Paspalum in fine cut areas has commenced.
