The AFL Grand Final has been run and won. Congratulations to all the Brisbane Lions fans who are celebrating this year\u2019s triumph.<\/p>\n
Closer to home, Spring Valley members turned out in style for our own Footy Finals festivities.<\/p>\n
Last Wednesday, 32 members and guests gathered for our traditional Men\u2019s Footy Finals Day dinner and golf event, complete with bistro meals, plenty of laughs, and the presentation of the John Philp Medal<\/strong>.<\/p>\n This year\u2019s medal was won by Melbourne supporter Chris Fischer<\/strong> with a fine score of 40 stableford points<\/strong>. Chris also played a key role in the winning Melbourne team, who finished with an average of 35.5 points<\/strong>. His teammates were Martin Pearse (35 pts)<\/strong>, Peter Scurrah (32 pts)<\/strong> and Rob Jackman (35 pts)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n 2nd place:<\/strong> Richmond \u2013 33.5 pts<\/p>\n<\/li>\n 3rd place:<\/strong> Carlton \u2013 32.5 pts<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n The Best Dressed Award<\/strong> went to Jay Fokchak<\/strong>, who turned heads in flamboyant Hawthorn colours.<\/p>\n Adding to the entertainment was the revival of the \u201cJohn Connell Famous Faces \u2013 AFL Edition\u201d<\/strong> competition. While no team guessed all the faces correctly, one \u201cexperienced\u201d group managed to see the answer sheet, we\u2019ll let you draw your own conclusions!<\/p>\n A great night was had by all, and we look forward to the 2026 edition.<\/p>\n The following day, 48 women<\/strong> hit the course in their team colours for the Women\u2019s Footy Finals Day, enjoying a beautiful spring afternoon of golf and camaraderie.<\/p>\n Winners:<\/strong> Terri Farrell, Kate McGuckin, Pam Doran & Kathy Roberts \u2013 91 points<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n Runners-up:<\/strong> Wendy Van Bakel, Julie Turpin, Shirley Munro & Carol Angland<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n A special mention to Shirley Munro<\/strong>, who scored a Hole-in-One on the 3rd hole<\/strong> \u2013 sparking champagne celebrations all round!
