Dear Members,<\/p>\n

This is a friendly reminder that the current Australian Handicapping Platform, GolfLink<\/strong>, will go offline from 10:00 PM AEST on Sunday, 28th September<\/strong>, as it transitions to the new Golf Australia Connect<\/strong> platform, which is scheduled to go live from Monday, 6th October<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The Golf Australia Connect app<\/strong> will be available for download from the App Store<\/strong> and Google Play<\/strong> starting Thursday, 2nd October<\/strong>. Once downloaded, members will be required to create an account using their Golf ID number<\/strong> (formerly known as your GolfLink number) and complete a verification process<\/strong> in order to access their handicap history and other features.<\/p>\n

To support this transition, our staff\u2014Tim Angwin, Patrick Carlon, and Chen Li<\/strong>\u2014have received training from Golf Australia and are available to assist members. While they are not IT or mobile phone experts, they will do their best to help you through the setup process.<\/p>\n

\n

Competition Play During the Shutdown Period<\/strong><\/p>\n

As previously advised, during the shutdown period, handicapping will not be available<\/strong>, and no retrospective adjustments<\/strong> can be made. Golf Australia has recommended clubs run novelty events<\/strong> or competitions that do not affect player handicaps.<\/p>\n

After careful consideration, the Match Committee<\/strong> has decided to proceed with the published syllabus events, with the exception of Wednesday, 1st October<\/strong>, when a team Ambrose event<\/strong> will be played.<\/p>\n

Please note that on Wednesday, 1st October<\/strong>, our system provider MiClub<\/strong> will be conducting required updates and validation work<\/strong> to support the transition. As a result, the MiScore app will be unavailable<\/strong> on this day. On all other days during the shutdown period, MiScore will continue to operate as usual.<\/p>\n

From 2 October 2025, your GA Handicap will be recalculated using updated Australian Rules of Handicapping, aligned with changes to the World Handicap System.<\/p>\n

These changes are based on millions of rounds of analysis and will deliver fairer, more consistent results, reflective of actual playing conditions.<\/p>\n

Four Key Changes<\/strong><\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Greater equity in daily handicap calculations for women and girls \u2013 via a new \u201cConsistency Factor.\u201d<\/li>\n
  2. A fairer formula for 9-hole rounds to more accurately reflect half of an 18-hole handicap.<\/li>\n
  3. Adjusted expected scores for holes not played, using statistical modelling.<\/li>\n
  4. A refined \u2019Daily Difficulty\u2019 calculation (PCC), back-calculated to 1 January 2023.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Impact on your GA Handicap<\/strong>
    Most golfers will see a small change \u2014 projected to be less than 0.5 strokes on average. Although some players may see a bigger adjustment based on their unique scoring history.<\/p>\n
