Playing Tip

From the first tee this is perhaps the finest par four on the course and it is a classic dogleg to the left demanding a tee shot shaped the opposite way to the one from the first tee. Bunkers guard the inside corner of the dogleg and the closer one drives to the sand the better the line into the flag. Bunkers dominate and protect the right half of the green and those who drive right must fly their second over the sand. This strategy is used time and again on the Sandbelt™ with the best example being the Seventeenth on the West Course at Royal Melbourne.

The second at Spring Valley is one of the best imitations of that classic hole.
